Giving Thanks
Tuesday, November 21st, 2006Wow, the holidays are upon us already! I always love this time of the year. Thanksgiving and Christmas brings out the best in people: giving thanks, sharing with the less fortunate, reflecting upon the blessing of family and friends and all that really matters in life. It is always such a refreshing time.
A few days ago, Benjamin and I were playing in his playroom listening to music as usual and I started thinking about what I am thankful for this year. Of course, the old faithfuls flew through my mind: “I am thankful for health and happiness and family and…” Then, Aretha Frankin’s “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” came on and I immediately picked up the nearest wooden block and started singing my heart out (I LOVE that song!).
As I listened to myself sing “Looking out on the morning rain/I used to feel so uninspired/and when I knew I had to face another day/Lord, it made me feel so tired/Before the day I met you/Life was so unkind/You’re the key to my peace of mind/You make me feel/You make me feel/You make me feel/like a Natural Woman…”, I realized what it is I am thankful for… (more…)
